Staff

Doctrine* essences:

Because multiple firms operate within the Holding 'So Speak!...' Ltd(in formation), there are also several (small and larger) staffs.

All employees who are functional 'above' the camera works in a staff.
Staff members have (freelance) flexible employment contracts (within a short dense period) or have a fixed employment contract;

  • Permanent staff-members with an employment contract for an indefinite period of time, are tied to the company after the 2nd year.
    The employment contract has the intention to apply for at least 5 years to ensure continuity. This is legally not enforceable.
    The employee receives a basic income with various additional financial income possibilities. There is to work very much abroad.

There are 2 types of staff members:

  1. institutional, horizontal incoming staff members;
  2. vertical incoming staff members (specialists)

    Examples

  • Ad. 1) of institutional staff members are (unlimited): Directors, Art Directors, producers, camera, sound, marketers, light, runners, security, styling, decors, assistants, floor-&set-managers,, scriptwriters, composers, scouts, administrators, editors, Web designers, screenwriters, etc.
    Ad. 2) of specialized staff members are (unlimited): pré-production producers, project coordinators, consultants.

A staff works in a staff team, that has as core business to perfect the production of Audio-Visual products and services.
The size of the staff team (number of team members) depends on the ‘Filmthis!.. command’-, the format, project, and the specific development phase of the the format/project.
Minimum size of a staff is 2 persons (f/m).
Staff teams with an unlimited maximum size are especially active for the production of feature films or for larger United Nations 'Filmthis .... commands' in the context of the mission RTPK.

All staff members can operate abroad for a certain time, at least 3 days up to 3 months.

Types of staff orders (commands) are: organize crowdfundings or expeditions, make schedules, financial breakdowns, write scenarios and screenplays, logistic Researches, organize explorations, interviews, scene (s) creation, stock shots production, documentary creation, evaluations, follow process, evidence collection, casting (shows), ‘making of' productions.

Each staff team has to define the targets for each function, responsibilities and authorizations.

There is labor continuity, because each function has a unique training component form and all the features together complement each other; In addition, each staff function is in principle quickly replaceable.

Staff teams have in addition to their salary and expenses compensations, a contractual right to a particular staff team-share percentage of project-profit (if produced by them) by the priority shares portfolio of Casting International.


Recruitment and selection

The search and finding potentially suitable staff-officers has standardized procedures.

In recruitment we search for people with a certain mentality; eg. warriors and no worriers.
Important selection criteria are the 3 stars of Amsterdam {*heroic, *determined, *compassionate}, and integrity* (do what you say and say what you do).

Please note that during the selection, some functions are fitting for physically light disabled, provided that they are not dyslectic.
In the composition of staff teams there is sought to balance between the number of men and women; as well as between young and elder.
People with military, spiritual, film production, and/or Martial Arts (educational) experiences have an advantage.


Training

All staff members have had first a training- period up to an half year by an internal learning-/work-course, including learning skills & drills and studying doctrines (policy notes and standardizations) in (one of) the firms of the Holding So Speak!... Ltd.

Since 1997 there are lots of business experience with recruitment, selection and training.
All staff-trainings are standardized.
Staff members are selected, recruited, and trained in staff teams according to a standard program.
The syllabi are adapted by innovative ways for realization of many ‘Filmthis!...-commands’ by divers UN-organisations, in assembly-line productions.

Only the potential employees who have at the end of their learning-/work-course, a certificate with as end-result an 8, 9, 10 (scale 0-10) as final mark for their training, are offered a freelance contract, with the possibilities to grow to a permanent employment contract.

Personnel make the company culture.


Effort:

Pré-production producers,  and/or project-coordinators (e.g.-unlimited-: a senior officer expert, or a film production-expert cq knowledge domain expert) work in line with a managerial staff. Both functionaries are specialists, who lead one or more video production crewteams at the offices or in the fields (see crews).
When a video production team is sent abroad, the length duration is ranging from 3 days up to max. 3 months.

There are 3 degrees of risk operations:

  • low (all productions in Benelux),
  • medium (most), and
  • high (war zones, organized crime, anti-corruption projects).

Working with freelance flexible employment contracts for the various staff functions, generate for the company a problem in planning of film-operations.
This problem is caused by non-binding nature of flexible labourcontracts(these staff members may always say ‘’no’’ when they are suddenly approached by the company with an offer to work abroad).
Therefore the company organization needs many freelance recallable staff members of various levels, experiences and training.
On this moment (April 2017) 75 STAFF functionaries are already trained.

Human-resource management policy:

Fixed employment contracts are the first years always for certain time.
The paid salary is linked to the rank, which is depending of the type of work, the specific project, the degree of education, experience and personal abilities of the employee.

Staff members with a basic training, start in the 'standing of friendships' their career.

Staff members organic trained with a college education, start in "the standing of ‘non-commissioned officers' their career;

A vertical incoming specialist staff member start in 'the standing of officers'.
Generally there is no overarching Collective Labour Agreement.

There are standard* assessment forms for the functioning of staff members.
Individual careers are depending of produced projects .


Contract method in the case of filmthis!.../command:

The normal procedure for contracting a staff member on behalf of a client (mostly United Nations organizations) for adoption of productional AV work by one of the firms of the Holding So Speak!... Ltd, is as follows:

  • According to requirements of the relevant UN organisation(s). The normal way of working with staff members shall be made in accordance with written agreements with them.
  • accelerated procedure:
    appointments with staff members in case of an employment contract certain time (flexible) or (freelance) happens by phone; These contracts shall be construed as verbal agreements, always to be confirmed in writing a.s.a.p..
    Casting International takes care of sending the written contract within 24 hours to the staff member, minimal 2 days before departure. Shipment can be made by courier, fax or email possibly followed later by post.
