SHORT FUNCTION DESCRIPTION:

A project-coordinator is realizing a film/TV-production* based on a prepared pre-production {about a universal problem (and potential solutions) that is already been visualized (by a filmstory or TV series or UN command or NGO-support) on paper, and planned, and is been calculated in terms of costs} through coordination and liaisons.

There are also series to carry out by more project-coordinators at the same time.
A project-coordinator is the right hand of the film-director* also substitute for (a) specific described project/series, a command executor with responsibilities.


INTRODUCTION

A project coordinator* is an officer, a leader, the film/video production-person in charge.
He/she can join the production in a vertical way (a pre-production producer who is professionalized), or can join the production in a horizontal way: an interim from outside who is appointed to this production- / directing job to do with teams of Casting International (Second Unit).
For both ways: a project-coordinator has always followed an internal training program.

A horizontal incoming project coordinator invests in study time during the training, with a minimum of 4 weeks full time.
A vertical (career) project coordinator followed an learning work training

The horizontal theoretical study portion takes place at the Secretariat of Casting International, and is in particular knowledge-sharing of doctrines*, and instructions about the forms of the work.
The horizontal portion of practice takes place at his/her home: the Coordinator is reading R&D script(s), scenario, screenplay, production- and financial breakdowns, as well as prepared marketing activities.
Perfecting the content of the pre-produced work is to be done by him/her in close mutual consultation with Casting International by brainstorm sessions during the theoretical study portion.

The learning/work-route is founded on the principle of the 3 teachers:

  • the outer teacher teaches knowledge about the domain,
  • the inner teacher teaches to recognize, and
  • the secret teacher teaches to acknowledge.

THE WORK:

Formats in which a project coordinator works, include -unlimited-:
RECO's, think of subjects as Human trafficking, piracy, or the environment;
International ... Researches, preparing R&D-series;
one feature film for a Media plan in a country;
one feature film from Aliens projects;
or a number of stories for a smaller format, such as Mirrors’fate or Jan de Valle
All are 'own' formats, related to the mission.

Also ‘Filmthis ... commands’ by external organizations can be coordinated.
In principle there are only external commands from United Nations organizations, sometimes also from NGOs.

Work of a project coordinator can also be the commands awarded from biddings by tenders (example) to achieve by means of coordination and executive liaisons.


STATUS:

A project coordinator is a tactical partner within a project or series, and is considered a (leadership) movie/TV producer, who {after a successful internal training (with at least an 8 on a scale of 0-10)} can make use of all facilities of the Secretariat and staff, and crew(s) in the function of ‘the right hand of Casting International’ in the specific project/series during the production.

A project coordinator consults independently with advisors in addition to his/her core business of production-realizer, and is strongly market-oriented.
Depending of the command, a project coordinator sometimes works independently with a specific mandate; or (normally) is delegated to lead one or more teams, each led by a teamchef, group or platoon with multiple teams, or in a company (particularly in case of expeditions).

The end of a project coordinator-job is when the project (or series) is (are) arrived in the distribution phase, or for Reality-TV jobs: if the command is performed to the satisfaction and discretion of the principal United Nations organisation(s).


MERITS

Project coordinators have by their rank, right on salary and have also contractual rights for a small share percentage in the associated project profits.


RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION

A project-coordinator is someone with an open mind, having empathy, can improvise well and is blessed with production experiences. He/she can go easily through one door with Casting International cq. his/her staff, personally and businesswise.

Ideally, he/she is a knowledge domain specialist with expert experiences, such as a vertical career following pre-production producer; or horizontal incoming interim manager, for example -unlimited- :
former military/police/fire brigade officers, or a NGO-charity specialist, or an experienced film-TV producer, or an experienced entrepreneur.
They seek a career in this industry, and/or want to contribute the social or economic community, by bringing light into the unawareness about an universal problem of the large TV-/film-public.
Entertainment is a tool in this contribution.

In recruitments we search for people having a certain mentality; eg. warriors and not worriers.
In terms of the selection criteria they are mentally the 3 stars of Amsterdam {*heroic, *determined, *compassionate}, with the banner of integrity* (do what you say and say what you do).
In other words: World civilians.

The rank of a project-coordinator is linked to the type of work and format, the specific project, the degree of previous training(s), experiences, and individual abilities of the officer.
The number of years of services increase the salary.
